Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress, who gained recognition for her performance in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun and Beta Saajan. She began her career in the 80s before coming into prominence thanks to her character in the film Tezaab in which she appeared alongside the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Then, she starred alongside Aamir in Dil. Her birthplace was in a Mumbai middle-class family, and began to dance at a young age. At the age of 15 began acting, but was not successful as a lot of her movies were unsuccessful. Eventually she became one the biggest actresses of Indian films. She decided to take a break from her career due to her marriage, before going back to the entertainment industry. She was a key character in Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit won 8 Filmfare Awards out of the fifteen she was nominated for. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award awarded to civilians in India was awarded to her. Her social work is also known to the world.
